Black and White.

Today I baked for a friends birthday. I baked my favorite vanilla cupcakes. I really wanted vanilla cupcakes with my vanilla buttercream frosting colored black....BUTTTTT, from past experience, the color I have tastes metallic. So, I decided to go buttercream on some, and use chocolate frosting and add black to that, should be easier to make black starting from brown,right? Wrong. Still didn't end up black and the icing tastes funny. Ugh. Apparently I am just not having the best baking day, because whenever I bake I try and change the recipe a little to try new's kinda failed as well..I think I added too much baking powder and too much vanilla, so they just aren't as pretty as they usually are, but they pretty much taste the same. Plus, I think the heat is affecting my precious cupcakes too...I am going to take a few days off and bake something special next week.
